I took May to the hospital this morning for the first time in over - TopicsExpress

I took May to the hospital this morning for the first time in over a month to have her do her therapy work. As we were walking down the hall toward the elevators, we passed the hospital chapel. May never pays attention to this room, but today she stopped in front, looked inside and started to walk in. I literally froze when I saw an elderly woman sitting near the wall. She turned around when she heard us, smiled and asked me to come in. I babbled something about bringing my therapy dog to work, and I was sorry to have disturbed her. The woman looked very upset, but May hopped up onto the chair next to her and just stared at the lady. I sat down a few seats over, and felt like I was completely intruding on her thoughts. She sat there, petting May for over five minutes without a word being spoken. And what was amazing, is that May just sat there, no looking for the tennis ball, no impatient attitude. She just sat there. Finally the lady said, “thank you for stopping in, this was just so nice”. The rest of the morning, May visited several other patients and acted normal as ever, playing and running around. But the chapel visit, I feel like someone hit me in the head with a cement block. How in the world did May know that she should have visited that lady?
