I took a toxic relationship class today. So its a vicious cycle, that starts with tension and critiques of one another, than it explodes into an act, abuse or outburst, than the next stage is if you did/didnt do this/that this wouldnt have happened, than the honeymoon, and forgetting it happened, than soon tension again. The main reasons people stay in toxic relationships is love and hope that it will get better. In most cases the perpetrator has poor communication skills, and is behaving how they learned from parents or peers, even society. The rescue act, is the bail out syndrome, not wanting that person to suffer, the consequences. Than there was a bill of rights, everyone has in a relationship. The teacher was smart, so much easier to grasp than the people Ive been dealing with. This type of classroom setting makes so much more sense than counseling. A young Hispanic man was attending too and after he asked for a ride home and I hesitated and than agreed, he told me his story and I told him mine, and he was amazed at me, asked if I worked at a university. Said nope, college drop out.
