I took advantage of the time I was to be rowing after my rescue at sea to write and publish my adventure memoir which is released and available through my publisher, Hellgate Press or at Amazon and Amazon.co.uk in print or as an e-book. Now I have a small window of time to realize my goal to row the Pacific before I must return to Track & Field with full commitment for the remainder of 2014, 2015 & the Paralympics in 2016. I revised my plan to accomplish this, I recovered and outfitted my boat as a pair and selected a rowing partner, Tara Remington of New Zealand. With the power of 2 experienced ocean rowers we should be able to knock down the crossing in record time leaving from Long Beach, weather permitting, about the 2nd or 3rd week of May just after Desert Challenge and 2 or 3 weeks before a British company, New Ocean Wave Launches there 4 man able body crews from Monterey on June 8. We are not part of their race, we are the fox. They will give chase and try and overtake us. Our coarse is approximately 200 miles farther than theirs but our weather promises to be better so with our head start It will be a game of catch us if you can and should be very exciting so stay tuned! They will push us to row faster! There will be satellite tracking online always & blogging, podcasting, pics and updates from the boat as weather permits. I found it extremely difficult to perform these additional tasks at sea in the condition of Gale force 2 winds and 30 ft seas which kept me in survival mode for most of those 7 days and 172 miles last year. Here is hoping for some better conditions this time around and a speedy crossing. I will likely revisit the goal of a single handed or solo ocean crossing after the 2016 Paralympic games and take the Pacific this year as a 2X. Angela Madsen rowoflife
