I took off 2 months this summer between houses-out of one, 5/17, and into another 7/15 and no, they were not halfway houses. So I headed further south on a virtual Tour de Glouton. It is what it sounds like. A culinary Magellan (or Wrong Way Peach Fuzz), if you will. Went with lots of internet recommends. First stop, Meridian, MS. Oh yeah! I wish this place was across the street or even across town. My God, you wouldnt believe their Oyster Po-Boys. Its Mississippi, but I give much credit for the entire regions cuisine to Louisiana and their wonderful combination of cultures. The big key, I believe is the use of spices. They know whats good and theyre not shy with their usage. And here the frying oil was pristine. The place is inside a gas station. You know how you get a little teary eyed when something really good happens in, be it a movie or real life? That happened frequently on this trip and on part 2 when I headed to the Northeast a month later to be with family and see the Cubs at Fenway (they swept the Red Sox). The camera on the phone was shitty, but more often I used my actual camera and the results were great. Thats shrimp on the left, return trip, and oyster on the right. The locals were so nice. I was even asked if I wanted a date in the parking lot. Phone camera. Next stop, Lafayette, LA. urbanspoon/r/211/1069552/restaurant/Mississippi/Seafood-Express-Meridian yelp/biz_photos/seafood-express-meridian#hN90UP57kbgrcU3I8E4kjQ
