I took these photos about 20 years ago and the quality is not that good. About 1995 a friend of mine (now dead) had heard from a friend of his about this house. I had to check it out. It was supposed to have been a stagecoach stop on the Fort Scott-Springfield stage coach line. It is on a hill north and a little west of Golden City, Mo, This house was supposed to have been built about 1840. I remember that the sandstone door lintel had an 1800s date carved into it. The house (as shown in my photos was in terrible condition, but very cool. The house is on a hill about a quarter to a half a mile north of an east/west farm road and on a private farm. You could see the building from the farm road and I had to walk a long farm lane up to it. The old farmer that lived there let me go up and photograph the house. Just before i posted these, I used google maps and located the building. It appears to still be somewhat standing although the top appears to be gone. I do not know if the history is accurate as to it being a stage coach stop however it does appear early to mid 1800s. Does any one know???
