I took this picture last Sept at Mont-Saint-Michel, the famous fortress-monastery in extreme SW Normandy on the border with Brittany. The headland in the background is the location of the villages of Carolles and Champeaux, home of the brothers Louis & Julien DesRoche (& their ancestors), who brought our name to the Maritimes of Canada (Ile-Saint-Jean) at the beginning of the 1730s, where they married into the Acadian community at old Malpec (now Low Point, PEI) - both women being Acadiennes named Arsenault. (In fact, the wives were half-first-cousins of each other, descended from the same paternal grandfather by two different grandmothers.)
