I tried to attach a copy of the letter the American Motorcycle Assn. sent to the National Park Service regarding the increases to motorcycle entrance fees vs. other entrance fees to the national parks. Its far worse than I thought! Some parks are increasing motorcycle fees by 500% compared to only a 33% increase for cars!!! I couldnt attach that letter, but here is the reply I got from the AMA if you care to read it. At least they are working it! If you want to see the letter they sent to the NPS, private message me your email address and I will send it to you. Dear Ms. White: Thank you for contacting the American Motorcyclist Association regarding entrance fees at National Parks. The AMA has been following this issue and has provided comments to the federal offices of the National Park Service. In short, we do not support raising motorcycle fees at a faster rate than entrance fees for other modes of transportation. Additionally, we have had representatives attend local NPS meetings to discuss the issue with park staff as well. Attached is a letter that the we have sent to the NPS discussing our concerns. We hope that comments from the broader motorcycling community will convince the NPS that fees should not be raised disproportionately on motorcyclists. I urge you to provide comments to the local NPS unit and let them know that you do not support the current plan to disproportionately increase motorcycle fees.
