Madzimoyo Afiya Madzimoyo you shouldve been there. It was pretty refreshing to have a topic that has been done to death, approached differently. It touched more on the fact that what Malcolm preached was loving US not hating THEM. Also how idiotic it is to think that we shouldnt defend ourselves! Additionally, slaying the notion that Martin was pacifist was also good for me to hear. We throw that term around way too easily (myself included). How could Martin be passive in the face of so much adversity and eminent danger? Consider the courage it took for him to keep speaking and to keep marching in spite of the threat of death! I love that the forum ended with how we can honor the contributions of both Malcolm and Martin. It was a great session. I brought both of my children. Its important for them to learn about their history and for them to see their Mom learning and RE-learning it as well. I also love that they are witnessing other African Americans do the same! Cant wait for the next one.
