I truly believe that if you cannot produce anything but EDM then - TopicsExpress

I truly believe that if you cannot produce anything but EDM then you are not a real producer. Also, I believe that there is a phenomenon that occurs with the psychology of striving producers who have spent considerable efforts in trying to hone their skills in the studio: They begin to gradually numb their musical senses in favour of project completion and quick/immediate praise from their peers. What this translates into is a sizable number of new producers hopping on the EDM train (meaning producing music that quite overtly resembles everything else in the genre by way of sound design, sound structure, etc) as it is literally a quick and easy way to gain recognition from others who are also addicted to the monotonous drone of big room Dutch EDM / whatever u wanna call it. Ultimately, there is so much over saturation of this sound that when overexposed to it, producers start to embed these elements in their original work unconsciously. To them it will seem as if it has come from their heart, but to the educated listener, it sounds like a carbon copy. The most tragic part is that this quick recognition is often mistaken for true progress as a producer. It is nothing but an illusion. ▲
