I truly feel that most officers have good intentions. Those we hear about that breach the peace are far too fearful and react in inappropriate ways. Crime prevention has become so militarized, since the streets have become so. This is particularly rampant in our urban areas and larger towns, and that is what makes it all so obscene. People of color in this country follow a trend of living in ethnic and racial communities, primarily in high populated areas. This is good and bad. Its good to help keep the racial and ethnic cultures vibrant but it is bad because these same areas are those more targeted by crime prevention. What that leads to is a horrific skewing within law enforcement. With our population being 72% white, 13% African-American and 15% other marginalized people of color, it is a travesty that incarcerations are 28%, 37% and 35%, respectively. A non-white prison population of 72% is an impossibility using any statistical method, unless there is a pervasive culture of discrimination. Welcome to America!
