I truly shake my head with some of these local movie/music production companies in Connecticut and say to myself I will never work for them again. Even if I got a good pay day for the simple reason of keeping your word and giving recognition, IMDB credits, bump, etc when it needs to be given. And I know I speak for many who give their all to a film project and get nothing in return. I will not mention names nor production companies but will give true scenerios that truly left a sour taste in my mouth. Picture your self as a extra with no pay filming for days, then get asked to do some stunt driving for critical scenes for days. You do your part, film project has been finalized, you dont hear from anyone, no bump at time of filming, no IMDB Credit, no film credits, no pay and above all no invitation to the premier party. You find out about it through social media or the grape vine. How would you feel? Would you work for that production company in the future? Would you speak highly about them? Like I always say, bad word get around twice as fast as good word. Another scenerio, and I speak for many actors for this project that Im sure were frustrated. Your asked to be in a music video as supporting Role along side many others who had supporting roles. Off set, your being told that its going to be epic, every one will get recognition, etc, etc. Mind you, its all being done for free. Then premier party day comes, you have your VIP ticket, but no VIP Table so you need to sit on a folding chair with you date. Then a selected few have their full names mentioned and the rest of the cast and crew are just simply asked to stand up to be recognized without naming them one by one. Is that a slap to the face? Would you feel betrayed and used? Would you work for them again? like I always say, in the entertainment business there is a outer circle and inner circle. The outer circle gives you empty promises, hopes and puts themselves on a high/mighty chair vs. Inner circle making it truly happen and not bragging. The Only Producers with production companies in Connecticut area that are part of the inner circle are Reno Venturi with Lets do this productions and David Gere that has multiple projects in the works with various production companies. As a professional actor, they are the only two I would work for with no worries here in Connecticut. This post is not ranting, its a I opener for all aspiring actors in the Connecticut area or actors looking to work in this state.
