I try my best to stay positive, especially on Facebook. However, this NEEDS TO BE SAID: THERE IS A LEASH LAW IN ANCHORAGE!!! I am fine with people that have complete voice control and can handle their dogs going without lead on occasion, but if you dont and cant handle them PLEASE FOR THEIR SAFETY AND OTHERS SAFETY KEEP THEM ON LEAD!!! I am not saying that we are perfect, but when our dogs are loose it is not intentional. I am so thankful that I only had one dog with me this morning (I take them out on lead one at a time now as it is icy here). A lady was walking her 2 dogs off lead and for the 2nd time this year her Pit Bull attacked my dog (who again was on lead). Harleys choke chain saved his throat (and is now broken), and Harley obeyed my commands and tried to stand down as much as he could. My thought being that a full attack by our Harley would have been a blood bath. The owner of the other dogs said she cannot handle her dogs so she has to have them off lead. REALLY! She didnt even try to stop the attack, she gave her dog no commands at all, she didnt even pick up her pace to get to the dogs. She cant handle them off lead either and what if Harley had been hurt? What if Harley had been a child this dog decided not to like? What if Harley had gone crazy on her dog and hurt him? Here is the thing THIS IS NOT A BAD DOG, BUT A BAD OWNER! It is owners like her that are giving this breed a bad name. You have to take responsibility for your animals. I repeat this is a bad owner! I know Pit Bulls that are simply adorable and sweet. She has refused to give me her name. If I see her again walking her dogs, I am following her home and reporting her. Taylor, Harley is fine. No worries. Just a little shaken and he needs a new collar.
