I try not to discriminate, but I have to admit it - asanas that involve backbends are my favourite to practice. Physically, they increase the range of movement and blood flow in a major area of the body, counteract the hours spent forward bending over a desk at work and stimulate the nervous system. But emotionally - ah, emotionally. They open the front of the chest and therefore the heart. They scare you but show you that youre capable of overcoming then embracing your fears. They send a rush of blood to both body and mind. Intrigued? Feel the same way?
