I try to get down inside the Trinity levees at least once a week. On average, Im way ahead of that number. I strongly suggest you go see it for yourself. Tired of dodging crowds on the Katy? Check out Skyline. One of the routes I take with my running group is through downtown to the Commerce Street bridge where theres an improved gravel road down the levee face. We then want to exit the floodway at Continental to head back into downtown (to create about a 3.6 mi loop). Whats pictured is how you accomplish that on the east end of the bridge. No, I didnt stack up those concrete blocks. Someone else apparently wanted the same thing I did. The citys response to this organic, demand-driven request for pedestrian access to the ostensibly pedestrian bridge is the hilariously placed No Trespassing sign you see.
