I try to keep things fairly light-hearted on Facebook, since I see enough posts on here from day-to-day that are way too serious for my liking. But bear with me as I get up on my soapbox for a minute, since this is an issue that means something to me ... Im happy the Ravens made the CORRECT decision today to release Ray Rice. This is a matter of HUMAN DECENCY. There is no place in society for this type of nonsense. Abuse against women is often a learned behavior. A slap on the wrist simply will not do here. We dont need children wearing #27 jerseys and idolizing a clown like this guy. Hopefully this is a warning shot for pro athletes who dont or wont take the issue seriously. Undoubtedly, this is a major step in the right direction. I do have to ask out loud why it took the Ravens so long -- as well as the public release of the video -- to unload Rice from their roster, however. Did it really require a public shaming to cut ties with a woman-beater...?
