I try to maintain a ratio of at least twenty-five positive posts to one negative, so Ive been saving up for this one. Let me preface my remarks by assuring everyone that my sentiments are not partisan. This shoe fits many potential wearers. When someone, be it a lawyer addressing me as a juror or a politician addressing me as a voter, adopts an overly folksy, down-home, dumbed-down tone or clearly casts his or her bait to the lowest common denominator regarding reason and critical thought and then expects me to bite, I really, really dislike the condescension. I have to wonder if that is who the speaker really thinks I am. I understand the need to be relatable, but taking that to extremes is quite offensive, at least to me, and it makes it harder for me to vote the way the speaker wishes should I agree with him or her. Maybe I am being vain, or perhaps I am not flattered by the perception that I am unintelligent enough to fall for the ruse. At any rate, I wish people would just be genuine. On top of that, the dueling accusations are wearing me out. I no longer wonder who is zooming whom. I think we are all being zoomed no matter where we stand. Aspects of anyones life can be taken out of context and exploited.
