I understand its been a while, but for those concerned heres an update on mikey. Mikey was scheduled to have a 6th round of intense chemo in September. Due to experiencing a tough case of mucousitus causing incubation, 2 weeks in the icu, and more than a month as inpatient, with the 5th round, Mikeys oncologists decided we would not put mikeys life at risk for the last round. Plans were then set in motion for an MRI then radiation treatments. Unfortunately the results of the MRI were not favorable as Mikeys lower spinal tumor has grown significantly. Mikey started radiation therapy on September 23 and will continue until November 5th. Since treatment is 5 days a week for 6 weeks we were granted a long term room at the Ronald Mcdonald house. Radiation treatment is going well only now he is starting to feel the side effects which include painful throat swelling, increased secretions and belly pain. The effects will only get worse until his treatment is over but through it, mikey is continuing to stay positive, polite and happy.
