I understand kids are going to be mean, that they arent always emotional mature enough to understand the consequences to their actions. Kids bully because they desperately want to be accepted by their group of peers. Kids bully because somewhere, deep inside our DNA, we respond to survival of the fittest. If you are doing the bullying, you arent the weak one, so your genes will go on. We cant eliminate bullying. I wish we could. That being said, even if half the kids in the world are bullies, if the other half are taught to be kind and speak up, reach out, and be strong in their morals, we can defeat bullying. Teach your children to speak up. Teach your children to be kind. Teach your children that they can save lives just by smiling at someone everyday, complimenting them, or having their back. Also teach your kids what to do if they are bullied. They may not tell you they are, but give them the talk anyway. Let them know that the suicides and shootings they see in the media are NOT the proper way to deal with bullying.
