I understand many people still hold the belief that the bible is infallibly inspired by God himself. I am curious as to how anyone can take seriously, a guy who in one story is recorded to have explained to large crowds of people of all kinds of backgrounds (none of them Christian) that God is like a Father and does not mete justice as humans do but in fact, loves his enemies and does good to those who hate him Matt 5). And in another place is recorded to have said he will kill their children and judge them according to their own deeds (rev 2) and this to his beloved church - who in present day insist that being saved is not about being a good person, but is about believing that Jesus has saved you from your own deeds as you are covered by his blood that supposedly appeases his loving fathers wrath toward you which is your default position in life from the day you are born (also according to the bible) you had no choice in being the disgusting vile thing that God could not bear to look at unless he had his favorite son brutally murdered. Is any of this making sense? Surely not. But this is what they teach our children is it not? Personally I feel this is a terrible form of child abuse where the effects are not easily detected even by the victim. For me it took a great moment of courage to come out of that prison of fear. Fear of what my Christian friends would think. Fear of being unloved by God. And fear of hell. At first I had to believe God loved me regardless of what Christianity mixed with the bible said, and step out of that fearful mindset. But now I just think its all a load of yippee dippy baloney.
