I understand the outrage at the violence in Gaza, and I have great sympathies for all who are caught up in this. I am concerned though that we can rally so much FB and South African attention to Palestinian issues while there are very serious wars and unresolved conflicts in Mali, CAR and DRC where our own government has been shockingly ineffective and allowed powerplay within the AU to push us away from helping the civilians protect their children, their human rights, their dignity and to work towards sustainable peace solutions. We could not even get the DIRCO Minister to reply to our letter on the Malian crisis. Her PA said she was too busy to respond to all the wars in Africa... no, seriously?
