I understand why CBS news Chicago is doing an investigative story on the Heart Healthy labels, but people you still have to do your own due diligence and read the nutrition labels. Products will use catchy phrases such as New and Improved, Heart Healthy or Gluten Free to get people to buy their products. My favorite is when they put Gluten Free on water bottles. Marketers will use what ever the latest craze is to sell their products and corp. lobbying has provided them with the loop hole to do it. They have lobbied so hard that the our labeling system is left vague to allow for these marketing ploys. Do your own home work before going shopping and read the nutrition labels on the products if you need to do that. Dont just rely on the front cover and bold print. New and Improved can just mean a new bottle. Gluten Free shouldnt be on water or any other product that does not contain wheat products and Heart Healthy products shouldnt contain high amounts of sodium.
