I understood Robin Williams, idolized him might be more accurate, - TopicsExpress

I understood Robin Williams, idolized him might be more accurate, if you can actually idolize someone youve never met. He was funny and charming and managed to cover his sadness with humor and wit. I have known our last Angel since I was in college but i was never her friend Im sad to say. She was a lovely acquaintance who made me smile every time i saw her. We always planned to go riding but our schedules never seemed to match. I never actually KNEW her or that she was even sad. Im SO sorry, i wish i could have helped. Ive listened to people, a LOT of people say, if only they had talked to someone, I would have listened! WE DO!! Do you know what the response is when you tell someone youre depressed, they start taking about what you need to do to cheer up...blah blah blah. Guarantee i just retreated back into my own head and I now feel stupid for having told you. So often we hear... What have YOU got to be depressed about? Itll get better cheer up! Or my personal favorite... Get over it!! ...TRY JUST LISTENING! ! Doctors like to call depression a disease, is it? Idk, maybe people just like to have a pill to fix everything because taking a pill makes you feel like you have control of somthing that otherwise can completely, without warning, hijack your life! For some of us, a pill is not the answer. In fact it makes it worse, SCAREY worse! I dont know the answers, if i did, Id be famous and no one would take their own life. I honestly believe there is no ONE answer. No one can tell another what can or can not make another sad. We all have our own demons. I was set off in high school once by a bad hair day. (Im not actually kidding) How STUPID is that? ...well it wasnt stupid to me, at the time. Its never the one thing, its a constant building of little pains, finally pushed over the top by something so small and insignificant, it makes you feel stupid for crying over the last rubber band that you really needed right then, breaking. SO, Be kind! Think about changing that little mean quip you were about to unleash into something uplifting. Smile...a LOT, its contagious. Tell the people you love and care about daily, yes they know, but its nice to to hear. LISTEN!!! ...sometimes the loudest cries are never heard.
