I unfortunately did not make the cut for this years Sundance Composers Lab for the summer. I just.... REALLY REALLY wanted it this time around, but sometimes, really wanting something wont get you it. On the plus side, I gave some of my best material up for auditioning......... Theres always next time. (I just really wish I knew what they wanted!!) Thanks to Tj Kross for more or less coercing me into writing a slew a material over the past year or so, 90% of that went onto this disc. Thanks to Merietta Oviatt for giving me a throwdown challenge of writing a childrens piece and making me work/think harder than I ever have; the end result was just absolutely amazing. Thanks to the insanely talented and immaculate Julie Minasian for listening to my slew of stuff (Im so sorry I spammed you with tracks!!! I value your opinions more than youll ever know!) Moreover, thanks to the hospitable Kristen Baum for being so generous and kind for helping me CHOOSE my material and how to go about making a demo disc. Im not.... drastically crushed, but I am semi-sad about it. In then end, out of 450 applicants though, some people cant go. *DISCLAIMER: To David Rosen.... We are doing this next year, the two of us are entering. This is not a suggestion, this is a truth. Done.
