:) I use to be sent to the principals office from the second grade when I would not pledge allegiance to the flag. At the time it had nothing to do with politics, but rather my best friend was Buddhist and I spent a lot of time with her family and saw a different way from my dysfunctional Christian family. At an early age I equated the discrepancy to something I could not articulate but knew gnostically. By the third or fourth grade I quit fighting the system and found another way. I just put my hand over my heart mouthed something else entirely. It went something like this..I love my country, I love its beauty, I love all of its people. There are so many ways to fight, and you pick your battles when you acknowledge the strength of your enemy.
