I use to hate playing this song…until I finally got to play it with a good bass player. This is one of those songs that requires you to lock in with the bass player and for him to really listen to the song alon with having that funk feeling. On the same note, its also one of those songs that the rule KISS, (Keep It Simple Stupid), applies to the drummer. At this particular gig, I really felt the bass player vibe and for once, felt like keeping it simple. I threw some stuff in here and there, but for the most part, I played pocket! One thing to note, doing the bridge, I played a off time lick which threw some people off, but the bass player stuck with me the whole time. This was a pure example of a bass and drummer connection.
