I used the Senate’s adjournment debate tonight to talk about Murray and Eric Maxton of Albany, who were recently awarded the Legion of Honour by France’s Minister for Defence, in recognition of their contribution to the liberation of France during their service with RAAF Bomber Command in 1944. I also took the opportunity to highlight that there some in our community whose service has been under-recognised to date. As political representatives, we should do all we can to assist veterans and their families to gain appropriate service recognition.
