I used this warm afternoon to (attempt) to fix an oil leak on the van. Rather than shell out $100 - $200 for someone else to do it, I took on this DIY project. After consulting the Internet, Youtube and various online forums I determined it was a leaky oil pan gasket. 19 dollars and 2.5 hours later I finished and fired up the engine. But what to my wondering eyes should appear?? I noticed a small but steady drip of oil. Turns out it wasnt the oil pan gasket but the oil filter housing - right above the oil pan. That would have only taken 20 minutes or so and a lot less effort to fix. No good deed goes unpunished. Thats 2.5 hours of my life I wont get back!
