I used to be (late 1980s early 1990s) a computer consultant. Before I started work, costs and pay were always set. Sometimes by the hour, and other times, a flat fee. I was stiffed only once (by a collection agency). I ended up suing in small claims court, and won. It also brought out the owner was borrowing funds from customers. (Embezzling is such a harsh word.) He skipped out on his parole, and paying all his debts. At the time I last sued him, he was loving in Louisville (IIRC) and owed me over $1,000. I didnt have money to have a warrant issued to have him arrested and forced to pay it as bail. Musicians *should* be paid, and no excuses, *no new festivals until they are.*
