I used to be one of those people that didnt understand why photographers charged so much and took so long to get my photos back to me. I mean all they do is click the shutter and its finished, right? Boy was I so wrong. Let me give you a look into a photographers life. From the time you book with me until your session, I spend time corresponding with you on times, dates, places, I even give advice on outfits. I set up a pinterest board that we both can pin to so we can get a feel for what the other wants. You get an input and I get to try some new things. During your session: Im doing more then telling you what to do and clicking away. Im setting up the shot: making sure the light is right, good angle, no odd limb cropping, correct camera settings. I am capturing those genuine moments between posed shots, the ones that show true love and happiness. I may be bouncing around like a maniac, but those are the photos that your child is looking and laughing. Those belly laughs you love so much that will be gone way too soon. After our session is over: I look through the hundreds of images I captured to pick out the best: everyone looking, smiling, focused, no blurs. Once the 20-40 best are chosen, I spend 10-30 minutes each. Cropping, cloning out that goofy duck that walked behind you, that grass stain on your jeans from chasing your runaway baby, the booger in his nose and the leaf he decided to much on, the pimple on your forehead you were understandably upset with. Then to make that image look like the gorgeous one I give you, that doesnt come straight out of my camera. That takes 4-6 actions to create. Factor in the fact I am a stay at home mom to a toddler who requires my love and attention, as well as a full time student. So please understand why it may take me 2 weeks to get your session back to you. When I am not shooting or editing, I am learning. New techniques, new poses, new tricks. new locations. My fees cover my time and talent. Your fees help me get my son his diapers, therapies, and various tools he needs. It helps me pay my rent and put food on the table. So please keep all of this in mind when you see my fees or any other photographers. We LOVE what we do, its our passion. If we could do it all for free, we gladly would :)
