I used to get most of my lifts from Lorry drivers during the 60s - TopicsExpress

I used to get most of my lifts from Lorry drivers during the 60s when on the run from the kids homes and I really got a feel for their dilemma as rail transport was taking over more and more of the heavy goods transport and more Lorry drivers were finding themselves out of a Job. It was a time when progress was showing that less work was needed to achieve the same levels of productivity due to automation and new technologies. Then came the stupid twit brigades (unions) who saw it as a bad thing that less work was needed to achieve the same results. So instead of the reduced working week we were promised, we ended up with idiots trying to make more money by keeping people unnecessarily in jobs which were in line to be superseded by better solutions. Hence my saying.... Progress is always being stymied by those who stand to lose when their solutions are replaced by better ones. That is what superseded means...replaced by better solutions. People seem to be blind to the blatantly obvious.
