I used to have a 130 pound glorious beast named Sunny. The shelter had him listed as a Greyhound/Collie but he looked like a giant, yellow German Shepherd. When I met him at the shelter, I remember my exact thought- I should adopt this guy- not only is he beautiful, he really seems to be independent and well adjusted. (Pardon me while I die laughing.) The day after I brought him home, my boyfriend at the time was walking him when he somehow got away. Ricky spent the next hour, chasing this small horse (who was definitely living up to the part Greyhound bit) down University Blvd. He was able to finally catch him and Sunny settled into his life with us. He was friends with everyone and never had any clue how enormous he was. I was at work one day when I got a call from a police officer, saying he had Sunny. (I was at work so I didnt even know he was missing.) Apparently Sunny decided to bust out and take a little stroll to Winn Dixie. The automatic doors opened and in Sunny went. Sunny was quite fond of food so once he realized he was inside a grocery store, he started galloping around, knocking things off shelves and just having a grand old time. Sunny loved kids (and had no manners) so he thought it would be fun to jump up and lick all the kids he came across. (Imagine how fun that would be for you as a parent if what couldve been a wolf started accosting your children. Oh boy!) The officer on duty had enough sense to realize Sunny wasnt a threat and was able to grab his collar as he jogged past him. The officer put Sunny in his car, contacted me and I picked him up. The officer and I had a good laugh as he described everything to me and then I took my goofy ass dog home. Okay, your turn. Im sick of being sick and some funny animal stories might just make me feel better.
