I used to hunt these birds with my Dad in the late 60s and early 70s, mainly in Central Ferry Canyon. Who would have thought that in such a short time, this bird would almost be wiped out! We are proud participants of the Washington State Recovery Plan for the Columbian Sharp-tailed Grouse in our area. At one point in the short video below, you can here the sounds of the Sharp-Tailed Grouse during their mating ritual. Be sure to educate yourself in the differences between the Endangered Sharp-Tailed Grouse and other Game Birds in order to protect the few Leks left today!
