I usually do not read obituaries of people I do not know, but yesterday I read an obit in the Elkhart Truth of a 101 year old WWII Verteran. The account of his landing on Omaha Beach brought tears to my eyes. He carried his wounded friend who had been shot in the stomach back across the beach then returned to combat. This is just one account of bravery and sacrifice that we sitting at home in our Lazy Boys cannot really imagine. According to my google, 651,031 Americans have died in foreign wars on foreign soil. This does not include those who died of injuries after returning home. These people not only loved America but thought it was worth dying for. We must thank God for our brave veterans and honor them by not taking our freedoms for granted. If not for them, we would not be living in America as we know it today and we would probably be speaking German or Arabic.
