I usually get asked the question. Whats changed in b-boying / b-girling, since back in the days? Heres one of the things that have changed or doesnt exist anymore. When crews or individuals wanted to battle. There were no issues that got in the way of it. It was as simple as, setting it up for a week or 2 from the day that you agreed. Then it would be go time. We would train just about all day and every day, until it was time to battle. We would show up at the club, community center, park jam or something as simple as a tenement building hallway. It was really that simple. Im not one thats against people getting their hustle on and making a buck for their hard work. Thats all good. I support that too! But the days of the community keeping it 100% real and authentic are simply gone, because people are only waiting for that big event. To quote Beat Street in order to put it in perspective, I can simply say. Roxy? Roxy!, Bet and it was a done deal.
