I usually only watch it once a year on my birthday, but Im in the mood tonight, so Im going to go off line and watch my favorite movie of all time. Yeah, the folk music is hokey, and the effects are crap by modern standards, but hey: they film is 42 years old so give it a break. What scares me most is that every year Ive been alive, I see this day getting more and more real, and it scares me at a level that very little does any more. Ive never been able to watch the final scene and not weep. I dont mean I tear up in a tragically macho way. I mean I weep. I cant explain why, but ever since the first time I saw this film about 35 years ago, Ive connected to, and understood Freeman Lowell in a way that Ive rarely achieved. If youve never seen the film, you should. youtube/watch?v=NkF05D-NJMU
