I usually try not to obviously weigh in on manufactured political crises, but there is an easy and very expensive set of solutions that can be implemented almost immediately. 1. Deploy 2 - 3 divisions of the US Army ( Not National Guard) to the southern border to secure it by aggressive patrolling and establishing strong points. This is part their mission. Do defend the United States. 2. Use part of this force to set up camps to house the border crossers near the border. This will free up ICE resources to process the people who have crossed while the Army interdicts the rest. I dont think any group of armed smugglers can stand up to a platoon of infantry or scouts. The National Guard and local Law Enforcement can deal wit leakers. Assuming there are some. Why wont this happen? Because Republicans and Democrats will not benefit from it.
