I view my body not as an object that is meant to be an ornament, but rather, a metaphor. My soul is the tenor, the obscurity, the unknown, the unseen, and abstract. My body is the vehicle, concrete, seen, well-known, and solid. In a metaphor, the vehicle carries the tenor, as such, the vehicle brings clarity to the unknown and guides it through the poem or paints it across a short story or novel. In a way, my body, the vehicle, is carrying my soul, the tenor, on this journey through this world. It’s the only vehicle I will ever have in this world. Far from perfect from ignorant eyes, to me, it’s just the right vehicle for me. Strong enough to leave footprints yet so soft that I do not break a single blade of grass. And I will not change my body nor will I disrespect it, for without it, I would just be an abstract thought with no face or name.
