I view myself as a casual-hardcore movie fan. I watch a lot, go to the cinemas a lot, own a lot of DVDs. But you wont hear me saying that the films score was out of place or the cinematography was fantastic or even complain about bad actors. Im more of the kind of guy who goes Yeah.. Holy shit that was awesome. Ill talk themes, characters and story lines but I wont always want to discuss direction or believe that too much cgi is a valid excuse to dislike a movie. Im not against remakes and I have nothing against Michael bay. I love quentin Tarantino and James wan, but Im not obsessed with Scorsese or Kubrick or Ridley Scott... Etc.. Ill watch shitty stuff and sometimes enjoy it and Ill watch supposed masterpieces and sometimes hate it. I dont care about birdman or whiplash or who won an oscar and I thought spiderman 3 and unbroken were pretty good, great even. My favourites list is a mess consisting of movies from face/off to insidious to django to inception. I think the movies that deserved to win from last year didnt and some didnt even stand a chance based on bias opinions such as Captain America 2. Ill judge stupid horrors and comedies an equal chance on par with tough dramas that are going in to win a bunch of awards. Give me superheroes or war based dramas, from rom coms to gore filled horror movies or futuristic sci-fi flicks. Just not musicals... I guess everyone has atleast one exception... Im the king of unpopular opinions as well as being the middle man with a common view, but mostly loving movies and not giving a shit about much else.
