I view this as just the natural conclusion of a system that is already food fascism: agriculture. Someone else owns the land. Someone else grows the food. You have to pay them to get the food. Which means you must have a job. Doesnt matter if its soul-killing and barely pays you enough. Theres going to a charity or turning to the government for help, but the existence of help from either entity depends on the goodwill of the larger community and if that goodwills just not there, youre outta luck. People are so blinded by having been indoctrinated all their lives that civilization is good, that farming is good, that they cant see this. We used to be able to just go out and get food. We cant do that anymore. I mean, technically even a first-world person can hunt and gather, but youre sure to break licensing or trespassing laws in so doing. Even if you manage it, its one thing to store plant food, but if you want to process any animals you bag, you run the risk of breaking laws again, or else you have to pay. So its not really free. Locking the food up is what keeps civilization going. Locking the food up is what led to us damaging this planet so badly. We had to invent ever more and more jobs just so people would have food money. The more jobs we invent, the more resources we burn up. Inventing new technological gizmos has the same effect and in the end theyre invented to create jobs.
