I visited Bingley, my old home town, yesterday on my way back from a weekend in the Dales on a lovely bright, sunny day. It was wonderful to visit some of my old haunts. The town has changed a lot in recent years - not always for the better. (I am loving all the old photos being posted by Peter Punky Pete Carrington!) Although I really enjoyed my chat with Marcus Dearden (brother of my dear friend Robin Dearden) at his fantastic Five Rise Locks Cafe, I felt quite sad to see how neglected the locks looked. A lot of the wood may have been replaced, but they are badly in need of a coat of paint. British Waterways - you need to get your act together!! The Five Rise Locks are a major tourist attraction!!
