I visited the newly renovated Gilbert Burger yesterday for lunch - TopicsExpress

I visited the newly renovated Gilbert Burger yesterday for lunch to find that in addition to the subtle changes made to the interior (primarily in the kitchen area), new changes had also been made to the menu. Gone are the Gilbert Junior and the 72, while theyve added: * the Sunrise (beef patty, pimento cheese, tomato, romaine and bacon) * the Green Light (beef patty, pepper jack cheese, green chili, jalapeños and chipotle mayo) * the Nacho Libre (beef patty, sharp cheddar cheese, chipotle salsa, guacamole, jalapeños, nacho chips) * The Mexican (beef patty, Monterrey Jack cheese, chili, jalapeños) As you can see, there is a decidedly Mexican influence to the new burgers on the menu. I initially ordered the Nacho Libre only to be told it wasnt available. I opted instead for the Green Light (pictured below) with bacon added. There was a nice zing to the burger, while the bacon added a bit of salty crunch. Nice. Another plus was that a familiar face, one of the guys who worked (works?) at Brooklyn the Burger Joint in Samsung-dong (the only one who ever greeted me each and every time I went there as a regular customer should be greeted), was behind the grill. I dont know if the dull-looking dude who was usually at Gilbert prior to renovations and who never acknowledged my repeated visits is still working there, but again, it was nice to be greeted as a familiar face. I didnt have a lot of time to study the rest of the menu to see what other changes had been made, but theres always next time. Oh yeah... the onion rings were also great and upon requesting a slice of lemon in my Coke glass, the glass came out with four thick ones in it. Extra points for not scrimping on the lemons.
