Eric Pickles - MP for Communities & Housing cc. Grant Shapps - MP of Welwyn & Hatfield Saturday 15th December 2012 Dear Queen Elizabeth II. Reference: Emerging Core Strategy for Housing in Welwyn & Hatfield I am a British Citizen, born in England in 1968, for the last 13 years I have lived in the Borough of Welwyn & Hatfield, in Hertfordshire. The reason why i am writing to you is because of the Emerging Core Strategy for Housing in relation to Welwyn & Hatfield. From the information i have seen, the strategy was written in 2005 before this Great Recession we now find ourelves in & before the main bulk of settlements from members of the European Union from across the seas. In 2005 things were good, there were plenty of jobs, plenty of prospects, plenty of future hopes and in this setting the Emerging Core Strategy was written & the Vision & Values testify to this era & emulate the feeling at the time, looking to the future with hope & confidence and Birthed this Emerging Core Strategy for Housing. I am writing to you Maam, that This Emerging Core Strategy for Housing MUST be Scrapped; Welwyn & Hatfield Council are pushing through this Emerging Core Strategy for Housing in this area, in full knowlege that the vision & values of the Emerging Core Strategy are based on a Non-Recession Environment and Future Non-Recession Environment. The current Infrastructure will not be able to cope particularly, Sewerage, Water, Parking & Local Services. History is also at risk, Do you remember Maam of your visit to De-Haviland at Hatfield Aerodrome. That place is now gone, Panshanger Aerodrome is, its minor counterpart, formally RAF Holwell Hyde & home to the Decoy Factory before No1 Elementary Flight Training School took over and 5000 pilots were trained on Tiger Moth Bi Planes, which helped to win the war against Nazi Germany. I became involved with trying to Save Panshanger, part Aerodrome cause & part Community cause as both are intertwined. In the 5 weeks I have set up a Twitter Account, I have got the word out to an audience of up to 700,000 people. Ask around Maam. Save Panshanger, Needs Your Help! I understand that you give your Government powers to act on your behalf Maam, but you also retain Sovereign Power. Help us to Save this WWII Aerodrome. This will help to save local services and save our infrastructure. Your Majesty, I am all for houses, and future developement but this this is the wrong town & the wrong time. It would be better to build the 7000 houses out of town as this would solve many infrastructure and congestion problems. A New Garden City nearby. The Emerging Core Strategy for Housing in Welwyn & Hatfield needs to be Scrapped, Re-Thought, Re-Planned and the Community needs to be kept Fully Informed. I have proven this to my Local Council that the Emerging Core Strategy for Housing in Welwyn & Hatfield, is Ill Thought Out, Out of Date & an Invalid option for Housing. In the face of this Stark Evidence, I believe Welwyn Hatfield Council will try to go ahead anyway and I ask you Maam, to help the people of this community and step in to the breach.
