The motion instructs the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform (OGR) to conduct a public hearing with testimony from legal and constitutional experts on whether Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination through her voluntary testimony at an OGR hearing on May 22, 2013. Republicans and Democrats on the committee had over a month to seek advice from legal and constitutional experts before voting on this matter on June 28, 2013. Many of those outside opinions were made public. This motion is intended to block the contempt resolution. The motion failed 191-224.
