I voted yes on AB 65 (Achadjian) which expands the crime of rape to include situations where the victim consents to the intercourse in the false belief that the perpetrator is someone known to the victim other than the accused and where the perpetrator induces this belief by any artifice, pretense, or concealment practiced by the accused, with intent to induce the belief. Essentially, this bill makes it clear that rape is rape and closes a horrendous loophole in current law. The bill passed 76-0.
