I waited for about 24 hours to post this. Yesterday Betsy and I watched the film Bridegroom, after having it recommended to us by Jeremy. I fully understand how good folks can be of different minds on the issue of marriage equality, and I have dear friends at many different places. I likely frustrate some of my friends on both ends of the spectrum on this issue. Some would not understand why I live within the bounds of the difficult stance articulated by The United Methodist Church, which encourages love and ministry with gay folks but forbids its pastors to recognize same-gender unions. Others would not understand why I fail to join in with those who loudly decry our changing society. I get it. Having said all that, the film lifted up the choice we all have to make when dealing with real lives and hurting and searching souls.
