I wake up every morning to live the world in a better place than I - TopicsExpress

I wake up every morning to live the world in a better place than I found it.. Some day I succeeded and others I do not. I am often told I wish I could do what you do as if I have supper powers like superman. Trust me I do not . I put my pants on the same way you do and the only difference between you and me is that I will not accept failure as an option. I do not ask if the person I am about to help is feeding me a line of crap. I just fill a need where I see if. We need to act more and question less. Love David I live in Hong Kong and have a very busy life working at a financial company. I have made this company my life and have forgotten to make a life for myself. I have been so caught up in moving up the ladder that I forgot to make a great life for myself outside of business. I am a 34 year old single lady that has believed that my success would be measured by the height I climbed within the company that I work for and the amount of stuff I gained along the way. I was in New Orleans and witness something that has forever changed my life and how I view success. There was a homeless man outside of an athletic store. He was holding a sign that read I am begging for shoes and if you don’t believe me look at the bottom of my feet. I had been watching this man and the people would walked by him. Some would point and laugh, some would stare but most of the people tried to act as if he was not there. I had been watching the homeless man for over and hour. I kept telling myself to go help him and I would come up with a million reasons not to go to help this man. I watched a man walk by in a bright pink shirt. He got down a little ways and then he turned around and headed back to the homeless man. I started moving closer so that I might be able to hear what this man had to say. He looked the man in the eyes and told him to show the bottom of his feet. The man showed him and what happened next was amazing to me and still has my heart filled with love. He told the man to get up and told him to follow him into the sporting goods store. The man told the kind man that he was not allowed in the store. The kind man told him that he was his friend and he could come in the store because he was going to by him a pair of shoes. They walked into the store and they were met by an employee that said to the homeless man you are not allowed in this store. The kind man told the employee that he was allowed in the store because he was going to by his friend a pair of shoes. The kind man went on to tell the employee that if they did not allow him in the store, he was going to call the media and tell them that this store hates homeless and veterans. You see the homeless man was a veteran. Well I think the employees knew that the kind man was not going to take no for an answer, so he told the homeless man to come in and look around. The kind man, who is an employee of the One Spark foundation, said that he was the head custodian. I do not think that the employee was impressed with the kind man’s job title. Then the kind man told the employee he needed a bowl with some soapy water and a rag so he could wash his friend’s feet. I could tell that that the employee did not want to do this, but custodian had a way of making people want to do things they did not want to do. The employee came out with a bowl of warm soap and water. He handed the custodian a rag and then sat and watched as the kind man washed the homeless mans feet. I have to say that I stayed around after the head custodian left the store. I spoke with the employee who at first tried to say that this was not a big deal. I told the employee how much watching the custodian washing the homeless mans feet filled my heart with love. He sat there at first and then said that it changed him also. To the man who did this I want to say on this day you did not change one man’s life, but you changed many people’s lives. I will never be the same and I promise to do a Spark a day to keep the ugly away. Love a changed life
