I wake up this morning with so much broadcast messages on bbm,whatsapp and Fb with happy anniversary Nigeria....and I was wow it is not only a new month messages I always remember it is happy independent...Nigeria what a great country.... I look at it from two different perspective,is it what celebrating?how come we come about that name Nigeria...I think from history I learnt it was a mistress of the then Governor General impose by a section of black people around the Sahara.. This mistress of the governor Governor General think the people from the Niger area which later become Nigeria is flora shaw.. I think it is just a mere fraud by the bristish imperialism to acquire and control a vast land of mineral resources like his partner in crime France are doing then..to force there rules on us...so far so good they bring together people of different cultures different entity altogether by just a geographical map and impose there indirect rule on us and keep draining this puppet till some honour men of valor (American spelling) come together and think enough Is enough we want our own way of doing this... And they make a consensus and get the liberty of independent that is 54 years ago (1960)now the question is are we truly independent or the influence of the colonial master are not still in us that is what my mind is going through right now... We still practice the white man system of justice.. We still believe whatever they said is right and not wrong we still believe anything from white man land is superior to ours.i find out that even myself cant speak my dialect...(smh) I wonder if me cant how my children and childrens children will be able to speak their dialect as well... Thank God I can speak the no acceptable language (Yoruba) Lagos own though with so much slangs in it ...I remember those days we will be told no speaking of vernacular (meaning no other language is acceptable except English)I notice this days too that the teenage now dont even speak the normal acceptable language again it is now pure English...now what will be of the cultures and tradition...how can we revive it back from the bin it has been we need to wake up from our slumber because very soon u will tell a university graduate about awo,zik,balewa,Ahmadu bello,akintola funmi layo kuti,efunroye tinubu,Isaac boro,murital muhammed,and other great men of this our generation and they will think it is a title of a movie...I love Nigerians and the inhabitant though because this is where I belong but we need to have our own ideology about what believing in ourselves can do...recently the Ebola case I noticed the western world try to keep the vaccine from us (African) and I remember the song USA to Africa (making a better place for u and I)lets come together brothers and sisters and lets us forget about the ill of the past and the segregation that was put into us by the powers that be we are Africans lets show the unity and love and believe in us happy new month and also happy birthday Nigeria
