I walk into my childrens room, like I do before I go to bed every night. How peacefully they sleep; the terror on the other side of the world unbeknownst to them. They do not have to be woken up in their slumber with panic and fear. They will not be traumatized from the sound of loud crashes and explosions. They will be dreaming of normal things children dream about, candies, rainbows, fun stuff and such. They have nightmares about spiders and monsters that are furry and blue. They have no idea the horrific things that are going on, on the other side of the world to their not so distant cousins, brothers and sisters. And tomorrow: they will go to camp freely without a care in the world. They will run, skip, laugh, play and cry over stupid little things; like children should. But: You brave ones who are holding down the fort. You, my brothers and sisters, who do not sleep lightly tonight. You who are not able to go about your day freely tomorrow. I do not take for granted my easy lifestyle today. I do not fight terror on a daily basis by bravely trying to live a normal life and going outside while rockets are flown over my head. I go to work, come home, take care of my kids, get frustrated over the heat wave and house chores etc. But: You are so brave! You are Heroes! You are the warriors! You are the chosen one sto be the closest to G-d on earth during these trying, scary times. You are precious soldiers holding on tight to our father Avrahams land he rightfully bought. Thank you for your courage while we sleep tight tonight. Thank you for being so real. Thank you for making me cry tears of belonging and hope for our people. Because I look at you and see the most beautiful people that amid terror you sing joyfully to G-d. Amid terror you arm yourself with leather straps and fringes. Amid terror you kindle more light into this dark world. Amid this distance I physically feel, I havent felt so close to you as I feel right now. We are one nation. We feel your plight. We pray for you. We love you. And we are here for you. May G-d watch over you for He neither sleeps nor slumbers.....
