I walked about a half mile down the road to visit a little country - TopicsExpress

I walked about a half mile down the road to visit a little country cemetery. I find it interesting to wonder about the stories of the menv women and children who lived and died in this pretty but harsh country. The last headstone I found brought me to my knees in tears and made me realize how lucky some of us are in life. The headstone listed the names of four children ranging in age from about 9 to one day old. I imagined the pain that this poor couple went through and how difficult it must have been for them and how they likely kept trying to have more kids to try to help replace the holes in their hearts from their losses. As I started to walk away, I walked around the headstone and learned that the mother died shortly after the last child was born...I would imagine...of a broken heart. :( Again, I cried for how hard it must have been to live such a rough life and for how hard this must have been on her husband. There was no headstone for the husband so maybe he remarried and healed...but it must not have been easy for his new wife competing with 5 angels either. As I left, the sun came out and lit the headstones up with long shadows...and the long rows of the bean field behind only added to that and showed that life still goes on...even if it isnt always easy...the farming still goes on.
