I walked out of the kitchen in the middle of breakfast clean-up to - TopicsExpress

I walked out of the kitchen in the middle of breakfast clean-up to go find Dennis Reed and ask him a question. Before I found him, though, I found Aaron Reed chopping wood boards that were being brought to him by his little 6 year old cousin. Other cousins and a couple aunts were taking those split pieces over to Uncle Chip at the saw who was shortening the pieces to fit in Mom and Dads wood stove. Once they were the right length, Aunt Mindy and Aunt Kim were stacking them into what eventually (after an entire days work) became a three row deep wood pile. It was such an operation that I was almost as impressed by the whole process as I was by the heart & intention of each individual. I quickly stole the first (of more than 100) of my pics and then ran inside to make sure Mom and Dad Reed didnt miss out on the show! I put Melinda Reed on baby duty and nieces Micah Hargett and Emy Stecher on KP and rotated myself into the wood work. We would be at this, as I said, for the remainder of the day, as there was MUCH wood and plenty of other tasks. Even the littles, when not busy assisting the grown-ups, were busy cleaning up and making repairs on the tree fort behind the house. Everyone had work to do, and everyone did it from a heart of love and an attitude of joy. I had to insist that Aaron stop chopping (he had moved on to whole tree rounds) before he got too exhausted and ended up hurting himself. This gave cousin Bai a chance to take over on the ax. Everyone wanted to see the work through to the end. I know this is just sort of a boring synopsis of a familys work day, but I found myself so encouraged by and truly enjoying it. No wonder we are referred to as a family in the Christian church. Where there is work to do, there is an entire family present and able to do it. This is good news too! And I really dont think much was being done out of coercion or obligation yesterday! We so love Dad (and Mom!!) and so want to return the love and care he has shown his family, his community, his world. We are SO grateful for his life, his testimony. So grateful both continue.
